Program Description:
A community based intervention targeting parents of elementary school aged children in the Franklin neighborhood in Wausau. The intervention is focused on increasing fruit and vegetable consumption and physical activity. A number of policy and environmental changes are being made in the neighborhood to support individual behavior change.

Program Description
The award was developed to recognize and celebrate schools that support and promote healthy eating; physical activity; alcohol-, tobacco-, and drug-free lifestyles; and parental and community involvement. The goal of this award is to motivate and empower all Wisconsin schools to develop the policies, programs, and the infrastructure needed to create and maintain a healthy school environment. Schools must meet specific criteria in order to be recognized as a healthy school. The target is all public and private schools with the intended outcome of changes in the school environment to support nutrition and physical activity.
