2009 Topic: Focus on Rural Cancer Issues
The 2009 Summit will bring partners from around the state together to discuss rural cancer issues and topics for the State of Wisconsin.
What is the focus of the 6th Annual CCC Summit?
The focus of this year's CCC Summit is Rural Cancer Issues. We will continue the discussion on how significant disparities affect access to cancer care. The focus will shift to geographic location and the issues that can arise for those living in rural communities. The Summit will further explore what continues to create this divide in cancer prevention and control. Promising practices that focus on addressing rural issues and cancer care will be shared through a keynote address, morning & afternoon plenary sessions and breakout sessions. Participants will look within the WI CCC Plan for ways that we can work to reduce or eliminate cancer health disparities in all communities & increase access to cancer care in Wisconsin. The Summit will provide opportunities to link partners and resources together with possible solutions that focus on rural issues throughout the continuum of cancer care.
Who should attend this Summit?
Cancer control professionals, advocates and survivors who want to learn about the issues facing rural populations as they work to prevent and control cancer in their communities. The Summit will guide participants in thinking through ways to reduce and eliminate the burden of cancer in Wisconsin.
