Program Description:
The topic of ProHealth Care's 2008 annual event promoting men's health is how good nutrition and fitness techniques can work together for better health. This free community event is a joint partnership of multiple ProHealth Care Departments. Dietitian David Grotto discusses nutritional tips from his book "101 Foods That Could Save Your Life". Green Bay Packers Strength & Conditioning Coach, Mark Lovat, also offers fitness tips for men of all ages. A health fair with screenings is held in conjunction with the speakers. Education provided on healthy foods to promote colorectal cancer prevention and free iFOBT colorectal cancer screening kits distributed to attendees. Education provided on skin protection from UV rays. DermaScan unit provides visual demonstration of sun damage to skin.

Cooking for Optimal Health the Mediterranean Way

Program Description:
This project is a series of three cooking classes jointly sponsored by ProHealth Care's Regional Cancer and Heart Centers, and Good Harvest Market, a local organic food store. Using Good Harvest Market's demonstration kitchen, a registered dietitian prepares foods that promote cancer prevention and heart-healthy living. Participants sample the foods and receive recipe copies. Vegetable class is February 18, 2008; Grain class is March 18; Seafood class is April 23, 2008. Participants can register for an individual class or the entire series.

FREE immunochemical fecal occult blood test kits are distributed year round to adults age 50 and older. Kits include information on prevention and early detection of colorectal cancer. All patients with a positive result are contacted 3 months post screening to insure follow-up with physician. Supported by the Regional Cancer Center.

ProHealth Care Regional Cancer Center and the Leukemia Lymphoma Society are working together to sponsor this educational program for healthcare professionals and patients. Hematologist/Medical Oncologist Michael Thompson, MD, PhD, will discuss how new drugs are identified, how to locate available clinical trials, and advances in the treatment of blood cancers. This free dinner program will be held Thursday, May 8, 2008 at the Country Springs Hotel in Waukesha.

FREE skin cancer screening is offered to the community during the month of May. Dermatologists examine patients on 3 separate dates and locations. Education on sun protection is provided, along with free sunscreen and lip balm. All patients with a biopsy are contacted 3 months post screening to insure follow-up with physician. Supported by the Regional Cancer Center.

Program Title:
Smoking Cessation Referrals

Program Description:
All inpatients are asked their smoking status upon admission to Waukesha and Oconomowoc Memorial Hospitals. Smokers are offered smoking cessation information. Physicians at Waukesha Memorial Hospital can write smoking cessation referrals for their hospitalized patients. A Lung Care Coordinator will then visit the patient in their room to discuss various smoking cessation options. Plan to extend this service to Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital in future.

Program Description:
Super Colon Exhibit will be available FREE to the community at the Country Springs Hotel in Pewaukee on Friday, February 23, 2007 from 3 pm - 8 pm, and Saturday and Sunday, February 24 and 25 from 10 am - 4 pm. This inflatable, walk-thru replica of a human colon shows both healthy and diseased tissue.
Health Fair includes information on prevention and early detection of colorectal cancer. FREE iFOBT colorectal screening kits given to adults age 50 and older. Raffle for one year membership at health club. Supported by ProHealth Care Regional Cancer Center, GI Center and the American Cancer Society.
